Premarital Therapy

 Congratulations on your Engagement!!

This is such a happy and exciting time. Many couples run into a hyper focus and concentration on the wedding, which can create stress and cause arguments, disagreements, distance, and fear or couples use the engagement to grow close, work as a team, and enjoy time building a strong foundation. I want to help you build a strong and lasting relationship through the use of premarital therapy.

Premarital Therapy is available to couples who want to learn certain skills that will enhance their relationship. It also will help couples pinpoint specific areas of conflict they may potentially encounter. I guide couples in exploring major relationship areas. I help facilitate discussions between the couple based on strength and growth areas, helping the couple learn more effective ways to work through growth areas. Areas of focus include assertiveness, active listening, conflict resolution, family-of-origin issues, finances and budgeting, and personal/couple goals.  Premarital therapy can provide a healthy foundation for a life-long marriage.

What you can expect with premarital counseling:
  •  Direction in addressing and preventing future conflicts.
  •  Steps to create healthy communication styles and resolve past issues.
  •  Coping skills to deal with the in-laws, financial issues, and more.
  •  Discover your strengths and growth areas within the relationship.
  •  Define the boundaries and limitations to help the marriage grow.
  •  Resolve childhood wounds to increase marital satisfaction
Family Therapy is a wonderful treatment modality for families who are experiencing ongoing difficulties in relationships between parents and children; between siblings; and/or between members of blended families after a divorce and remarriage. Also, it is common for one member of a family system will act out the dysfunction present in the larger family or will display feelings and/or behaviors that the rest of the family is unable or unwilling to express.
